Bio

Sally is a registered architect and Certified Passive House Designer with 10 years of experience in the design, detailing and delivery of numerous projects seeking to bring elegant, affordable solutions to complex challenges. Having recently relocated from Vancouver to Victoria, Sally brings her experience as a Project Architect on affordable multifamily housing projects in the Lower Mainland to the Cascadia team.

Sally believes that architecture has the potential to regenerate and create meaningful relationships between people, place and living systems of our world. She is passionate about projects that seek to inspire curiosity and support ongoing education about our role in the holistic health of our planet’s ecosystems. In addition to her work at Cascadia, Sally is a part-time instructor at BCIT’s Zero Emissions Buildings Learning Centre, where she shares lessons learned on the application of the upper levels of the BC Step Code to the design of multifamily housing projects.

As a strong advocate for empowering women in the industry, Sally is a mentor for Intern Architects and volunteers with the programming committee for Women In Architecture (WIA) Vancouver, an organization that champions women in architecture and related professions.

What volunteer organizations are you a part of?

I'm currently a member of the Women in Architecture (WIA) programming committee. We organize educational and social events to advance WIA's mission to champion women in architecture and related professionals by celebrating their achievements and providing opportunities for career development, networking, advocacy, and inspiration for women at all career levels.

What other specific interests within the field of architecture do you have?

I regularly attend technical meetings, educational sessions and tours to advance my knowledge in delivering high performance projects. I am passionate about advancing the industry transition towards achieving more zero emissions buildings and serve as a part-time instructor at the BCIT Zero Emissions Buildings Learning Centre. My lectures discuss strategies to achieve the upper levels of the Step Code with other architects and designers, contractors, developers, municipalities and building trades.

Are there specific books for schools of thought in architecture that inspire you?

I'm passionate about addressing the climate crisis through zero emissions buildings and regenerative design. Next on my reading list is Regenerative Development and Design by Pamela Mang and Ben Haggard.
