The Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) is a new addition to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital located in Central Saanich located adjacent to the Operating Rooms and Post Anaesthetic Recovery areas.
The Saanich Peninsula Hospital Medical Devices Reprocessing Department is a 350 sqm addition, comprising the third and final phase of the OR and CSR Department expansion project begun in 2011.
The addition provides space to facilitate upgraded and expanded sterilizing facilities, replacing the existing CSR. Due to the connection to existing facilities, the renovation required close attention to CSA Z317.13-17 (Infection control during construction, renovation, and maintenance of health care facilities).
Cascadia Architects led an Integrated Design Team, utilizing an integrated BIM workflow, from Schematic Design through to final project commissioning.
