Ground has been broken.
Saanich is set to welcome a new, much needed daycare facility and approvals have been granted. Plans include the renovation of an existing chapel to convert it into two daycares; a toddler daycare and child daycare with a combined 37 spaces to assist families.
The project aims to restore the chapel, making upgrades required for the use of the daycare. These upgrades include: new windows, some new window openings to increase ventilation and natural light, and new exterior railings for additional safety.
The site will also see the addition of several new gated playground areas, as well as small parking lot suitable for approximately ten vehicles.
Inside, the building will retain its vaulted space, as well as existing light fixtures—however we will introduce new materials and upgraded heating and cooling systems to improve the comfort and safety of children. New interior furring was will also assist in seismic upgrades and energy efficiency.
